Charity "Channel Swim"

Gemma is swapping her riding gear for goggles and a swimming cossie to complete a "channel swim" for charity.
She has to swim the length of the Channel (22 miles) in a 12 week period from September through to December. The swim is in aid of charity Aspire who offer support and advice for people who have suffered spinal cord injury.
Gemma was inspired to do the swim when a friend, Ruth Mathieson, had a riding accident which resulted in her being paralysed from the chest down. The care and support that she has received has shown how important the work these charities do and has led Gemma to try to raise as much money as possible to help. Her goal is to raise a minimum of £1500 but ideally £4000 as this would buy one of the latest wheelchairs for Ruth or for someone else in a similar situation.
