I moved to Tattleton at the beginning of 2009. It was still so new that the builders were on site when I moved in, with all my horses. It is a really wonderful place, and if you want to see more, there was a 'Through the keyhole' article in 'Eventing' magazine's December 2009 edition.
At Tattleton the yard is shaped as a perfect 'U', each side of the 'U' are seven huge loose boxes designed in a barn-like style. The bottom of the 'U' includes three lovely big rooms, tack room, rug room, and feed room, with a picturesque archway leading to an undercover wash and tie-up area with rubber flooring. Behind the wash area is a completely padded isolation box.
We are very lucky to have a top-of-the range 60x30 Martin Collins arena. We also have an 18x28 lunge pen with 8ft fencing. We had this put in especially for breaking young horses, as I regularly break horses for Donal Barnwell. We have a four-horse horse walker with rubber brick flooring.
The Tattleton estate is 300 acres of woodland and grassland with tracks running throughout. This enables us to hack all our horses for a change of scenery and without the dangers of the road.
We also have a great road hack with excellent hills for trotting up.
A short hack away is a race stables owned by Mr Gary Moore. We are extremely fortunate to be able to use these fantastic gallops. They are a great facillity including a six furlong uphill gallop. which follows on with a mile round, back to the start of the six. When we are getting the horses really fit and ready for top events, we use the mile gallop as well.
We have nine small paddocks by the yard and two all-weather pens for day turn out. For resting horses or youngsters we have large fields further away from the yard easily accessable with the 4x4.
